Joanna Cave was brought up on a Cycladic island by her Greek mother and English father. She attended an international school in Athens and studied jewellery design in London.
You only have to look at the notebooks that date back to her student years in London to realise why Joanna Cave is not just a jewellery-maker, she’s a contemporary artist with sensitive antennae scanning a world-wide terrain for inspiration. Her Spring/Summer 2011 collection is inspired by geometric forms from buildings, details of exotic birds and Mediterranean landscapes.
She manages to transform all these diverse influences and references into a unique sense of style; creating a sense of luxury and uniqueness out of simple materials and designs.
In their joyous, almost child-like playful quality, Joanna’s creations remind us how simple can be nowhere close to easy. Her pieces are contemporary classics that transform ancient ideas into unexpected doses of cool modernism.
